The heart of a
Cape Breton home, is the family kitchen. It is usually filled with
wondrous aromas, much laughter and more often than not...company.
It is a place were you will always find a teapot steeping,
cookies, pies and cakes...just incase someone should arrive.
While many people
spend huge amounts of money on lavish family rooms, a Cape
Bretoner needs most a sizeable well organized kitchen for it is
here that people prefer to gather. We bake and cook from scratch,
very little ever comes out of a jar or a can. Our meals are
nutritious, wholesome and very hearty. They are also meant to be
shared. There is only one rule in my kitchen...the cook never does
the dishes!
